Elaine is a qualified and highly experienced career development consultant. She has worked with the UCC Career Services, University College Cork for nearly 20 years. She has a background in Recruitment and HR, where she worked with large, medium and SME organisations. In her role in UCC, Elaine is responsible for providing career and employability guidance and support to undergraduate, postgraduate and adult students across all degree disciplines. Elaine helps students to develop career management skills and strategies that will allow them to make effective decisions and turn their degrees into meaningful and successful careers. Elaine also works to support the career development and progression of staff in UCC.

Elaine has run a private career consultancy practice in Carrigaline, Cork since 2005. In her practice, she provides individual, one-to-one support for second-level, third-level and adult clients in the areas of career management, career planning, career progression, career change and career coaching. Elaine is highly experienced in supporting clients and helping them to work through issues that could be preventing them from progressing in their life and career. Through confidential, one-to-one sessions, clients develop increased self-awareness, come to recognize their potential, identify areas that need further development and understand their preferred working styles and environments. Elaine also guides clients through the process of  job hunting, CV writing and interview preparation.

Elaine is also a member of AHECS (Association of Higher Education Career Services in Ireland). During the years from 2012 to 2018, she held the position of Chair of the AHECS Employability Task Group, where she was responsible for project managing employability initiatives used by careers practitioners across third-level career services in Ireland. These projects included the creation and design of the AHECS Employability Module (an employability module developed in collaboration with graduate employers, academics and students), which is utilised by a number of third-level institutions to enhance their students’ graduate employability.
